The leaders of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) will reconvene on Thursday in Abuja to discuss the crisis in Niger Republic.

ECOWAS made the announcement today following the expiration of the deadline handed to the junta in Niger to leave and reinstate President Mohamed Bazoum.

President Tinubu who the ECOWAS chairperson, had vowed to do everything possible, including a possible military intervention to reinstate the ousted Bazoum.

Although members of the Northern Senators Forum have kicked against use of force, Tinubu last night met governors from the five of the states that share boundaries with Niger as part of wider consultations on the political instability in Niger.
