President Bola Tinubu had a closed doors meeting with the immediate past National Chairman and Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Adamu and Iyiola Omisore, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Though nothing could be officially confirmed about the reason for the visit, it is believed that it must have been part of efforts to sort out issues surrounding the party’s leadership.
Adamu and Omisore reportedly resigned their positions last week, ahead of scheduled National Caucus and National Executive Council, NEC, meetings, slated to hold Monday, July 18 and Tuesday 19 respectively.
President Tinubu, who is the overall leader of the party, is granted a lot of leverage and influence within the ranks of the APC and is expected to determine a lot about the emergence of new party leaders.
Although neither Adamu nor Omisore has openly announced their said resignation, the Acting National Chairman, Abubakar Kyari, after a meeting of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja, said both leaders had resigned.
