The Lagos Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service has confirmed pardon and release of 30 inmates by the Lagos State Government.
The spokesperson of the NCoS Lagos Command, Rotomi Oladokun, confirmed the release today, stating that the inmates were pardoned by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Kazeem Alogba.
According to Oladokun, the inmates released are those who committed minor offences such as assault, disorderliness, low-level shoplifting, road traffic offences, theft, and burglary, among others.
He also appealed for the release of more inmates as the state custodial facilities houses over 8000 inmates, which is above their capacities.
