In Benue State, Governor Hyacinth Alia says the state has uncovered 2,500 ghost workers in the payroll of Local Government Areas in Benue State.
This, he said, formed parts of the outcome of a staff audit which also revealed the existence of ghost schools and salary padding across the 23 local government areas of the state.
Alia, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary Kula Tersoo in Makurdi, said that the staff audit was responsible for the delay in the payment of salaries of teachers in primary and secondary schools, as well as the Local Government staff across the state.
He, however promised that workers at the third tier of government will from this week begin to receive their salary.
