The Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa wants Nigerians outside the country to register on the NiDCOM portal to avoid the recent experience in Sudan.
Speaking to newsmen ahead of this month National Diaspora Day, Dabiri-Erewa admitted that the official figure of Nigerians in Sudan before the outbreak of hostility was much less than the actual figure as many of the students did not identify with the Nigeria Embassy.
She therefore noted that the NIDCOM register would help the nation plan for citizens in foreign lands.
Speaking on the 2023 National Diaspora Day celebration, the NIDCOM Boss said no fewer than 10,000 Diasporans are expected to participate virtually in the event which will celebrate and recognise the contributions of Nigerians in the Diaspora towards national development.
