There are unconfirmed reports that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Adamu and the National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore have resigned from their positions.
Adamu’s reported resignation has been discussed in social circles since Sunday night but there has been no official confirmation of the report.
However, a Source close to the Presidency, told VeonewsNG that the former Governor of Nasarawa had indeed resigned.
The source who pleaded anonymity said, “The Chairman has resigned, there are no questions about that, we’ve received confirmation that he has done the needful.
The source could however not confirm the resignation of the National Secretary, Omisore.
This is coming ahead of the meeting of the National Executive Committee and National Caucus of the APC scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday in Abuja.
The party is also expected to hold a National Working Committee, NWC, meeting ahead of the NEC.
While it remains unclear what the main reasons are for Adamu and Omisore’s purported resignation, there are pointers to accusations made by the National Vice Chairman, North West, of the party, Salihu Lukman.
Lukman accused Adamu and Omisore of running a two-man show, failing to provide necessary support to candidates during the 2023 elections, breaching the party’s constitution and corruption.
