Benue state Governor Hyacinth Alia has denied intentions to witch hunt former governor Samuel Ortom, while promising to focuse on governance and service delivery to the people.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor refuted claims of harassment and witch-hunt levied against him by Terver Akase, a media aide to Ortom and the State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party.
According to Alia, the Assets Recovery Committee inaugurated on June 22 was not to witch hunt anyone, but to recover government property sold and kept in the wrong hands.
He said committees of this nature were not new in the State, adding that Ortom did the same in 2015 and allegedly recovered items from individuals.
The governor also promised to be fair and impartial in serving the people, through quality representation and policies
