Moonsoon Rains Trigger Tragedy in Pakistan, Kills 50

Officials in Pakistan say atleast 50 people including minors have been killed by floods and landslides triggered by monsoon rains.

The disaster management agency noted that 50 deaths had been announced since the start of the moonsoon rains on June 25, adding that 87 people were injured during this period.

The agency noted that The majority of the deaths were in eastern Punjab province, and were mainly due to electrocution and building collapses.

The moonsoon rains which brings South Asia 70-80 percent of its annual rainfall between June and September every year is considered significant for farmers but also brings landslides and floods.
