Governor Rotimi Akeredolu today failed to resume at work as earlier stated, noting he would only return when his doctor certifies him okay to return.
Akeredolu had last month embarked on a 21-day leave for medical treatment abroad starting from June 7 and was due to return today.
But in a swift turn of events, the governor was absent today while a statement from the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju thanked the people of the state and the country at large for their prayers and support.
In the statement, Ademola-Olateju said the governor was feeling better and in high spirits but would only join the people of the state as soon as his doctors consider it expedient.
In his absence, Akeredolu’s deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has continued to act while a powerplay is underway with members of the state executive council, some who are planning to succeed the ailing governor.
