Sierra Leone electoral commission’s chairman Mohamed Kenewui Konneh Has declared the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party SLPP winner of the June 24 legislative elections.
According to the electoral body, the SLPP secured 81 seats while the opposition All People’s Congress (APC) won 54.
The APC said it would refuse to participate in any level of governance’ accusing the roiling party of glaring irregularities and massive rigging.
Sierra Leone’s main opposition party has however demanded a re-run of the presidential polls and the sack and prosecution of the electoral chairman.
