The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, says it arrested 31,675 drug offenders, ensured prosecution and conviction of 5,147 of them in the last 29 months.
The agency also confirmed seizure of no less than 6.3million kilograms of assorted drugs.
This was disclosed by the Agency’s Chairman, Mohamed Buba Marwa in Abuja at a joint press briefing with the Country Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, UNODC, Oliver Stolpe to flag off weeklong activities marking the 2023 World Drug Day.
Marwa represented at the event by the Agency Secretary, Shadrach Haruna said law enforcement had been strengthened to cut down on drugs supply.
In his remarks at the media briefing, Stolpe emphasized the benefits of international cooperation in criminal justice matters with a specific target of dismantling trafficking networks involved in drugs supply .
