Real Madrid’s youngster Vinicius Junior has inherited the famous number 7 shirt after Eden Hazard terminated his contract with the los blancos on mutual consent.
The club made the announcement in a statement today, stating that Vinicus has been considered to follow the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo and Raul in adorning the iconic jersey at Santiago Bernabeu.
He will be giving up his No.20 shirt, which is expected to go to Fran Garcia following his return to the Bernabeu from Rayo Vallecano, while fellow Brazilian Rodrygo is being upgraded from 21 to 11.
The Brazilian has seen his stock soar since joing Real from Flamengo in 2018, netting 59 goals In 225 appearances alongside the two La Liga titles and Champions League crown.
Vinicius is expected to sign a new contract this summer that will keep him in Madrid until 2027.
