President Bola Tinubu has met with a group of aggrieved politicians within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo and Peter Mbah of Enugu.
Others in attendance are former Governors Nyesom Wike of Rivers, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Okezie Ikpeazu, Abia and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Enugu.
The aggrieved Chieftains of the PDP, formed an alliance after the party’s presidential primary in May 2022 to demand that the then PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu step down for a southern replacement as a precondition to support the presidential ambition of the party’s flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar in the February 25 poll.
However, Atiku and Ayu dismissed the then Governors demands and came second, polling 6,984,520 votes as against Tinubu who scored 8,794,726 votes.
It is unclear what the agenda of the meeting is. However, it is thought that the meeting may not be unconnected with how the politicians may get involved in the current administration.
