Popular Ghanaian author, , has died at the age of 81.
Her death, according to her family, followed a short illness.
The family also requested privacy to allow members to mourn her passing.
The late Aidoo who served as Secretary for Education in Ghana from 1982 to 1983 under the Jerry Rawlings administration is a recipient of several literary honours and awards, among which is the 1992 Commonwealth Writers Prize for Change.
Her plays include – The Dilemma of a Ghost, produced at Legon in 1964, Pittsburgh in 1988, Anowa was published in 1971 and produced at the Gate Theatre in London in 1991.
Most recently, Afrobeats Super Star, Burna Boy, in the track, “Monsters You Made” featuring Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin, included an excerpt of her 1987 interview in which she decries colonial and post-colonial exploitation of the African continent by the West.
