The Federal Government has constituted a committee to review the remuneration of legal practitioners in the country.
The inauguration of the committee headed by the Attorney-General of Lagos State, Mr Moyosore Onigbanjo, SAN, took place in Abuja.
In his remarks, Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN said the committee, which by virtue of section 15 of the Legal Practitioners Act was made up of Attorneys-General of the Federation and the States, the NBA President and three other members of the umbrella body of lawyers, would among other things, standardise the remuneration of legal practitioners in the country.
In his own remarks, President of the NBA, Yakubu Maikyau, SAN, lamented that the last review was done 30 years ago but expressed hope that the ongoing review would be highly beneficial to legal practitioners in the country.
