Fire, on Friday, engulfed a shopping complex within the New Market, Oniru, Lagos State, resulting in the destruction of several items.
The cause of the fire is not fully verified, although one of the eyewitnesses, identified as Martins, suggested it was caused by the impact of high voltage electric supply in one of the shops that sold chemicals and paint-related materials.
As of press time, traders in the four affected shops were assessing their losses, while others were attempting to salvage items from surrounding shops.
However, the combined efforts of fire servicemen, police, estate security, and traders who extinguished the fire prevented it from causing more damage.
