Senator Athan Achonu has emerged as the Labour Party governorship candidate for Imp State in the November 11 governorship poll.
The primary presided over by Governor- elect of Abia State, Alex Otti, was held in Owerri, the state capital, on Saturday night.
Achonu who represented Imo North senatorial district in 2015 polled 134 votes while his closest rival, Jack Ogunewe, got 121 votes
There was jubilation at the venue immediately Achonu was declared as the winner of the primary.
