The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kano State has filed a suit before the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal challenging the victory of Abba Kabir Yusuf of New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, in the March 18, 2023 governorship poll.
In a five-volume petition filed by APC, the petitioner is alleging that Yusuf was not qualified to contest the election on the ground that his name was not in the list of members of NNPP sent to the independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The APC while asking that its Candidate, Nasiru Gawuna be declared Governor-elect alleged that INEC should not have declared Yusuf winner as the margin of lead is not higher than the votes cancelled and that the election ought to be declared inconclusive.
It was gathered that the governorship candidate of APC, Gawuna was not joined as a party in the petition, having conceded defeat in an earlier statement.
