Senator representing Kano Central Senatorial district, Ibrahim Shekarau, has insisted that he will not accept the New Nigeria Peoples Party Senatorial seat.

The former governor was reacting to his declaration as winner of Kano Central Senatorial district on the platform of the NNPP by the Independent National Electoral Commission after the February 25 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Shekarau who did not show up to receive the Certificate of Return issued to Senators-elect at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, on Tuesday further clarifies that he has since left the NNPP.

His Media aide, Sule Sule, made the clarification to journalists on Wednesday that his principal would not collect the Certificate of Return.

“We have already made our position clear on the issue. Senator Shekarau is not interested and will not collect the certificate of return. As a matter of principles and personal conviction”, Sule said.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC declared the former governor winner of the Senatorial election under the NNPP, following the February 25 by the Returning Officer in Kano.
