Court Grants Yahaya Bello’s Nephew Bail

The Federal High Court, Abuja has granted n2 billion bail to Governor Yahaya Bello’s nephew, Ali and three others in their N3 billion fraud trial.

Ruling on the matter, Justice Obiora Egwuatu held that the charges against the defendants are bailable and admitted the defendants to a bail of N500 million each.

Bello alongside Abba Adauda, Yakubu Siyaka Adabenege and Iyadai Sadat were arraigned on 18-counts including the procurement of a certain, E- Traders International limited with over three billion naira which allegedly formed part of proceeds of unlawful activity.

While Justice Egwuatu held that the defendants are to deposit their international passports with the court, he insisted that the sureties must also own landed property worth n500 million within the jurisdiction of the court, together with evidence of tax payment for three years running from 2020 to 2022.

Subsequently, the matter was adjourned to April 16 for commencement of trial.
