The hypocrisy of the west regarding climate change is an indication that colonialism hasn’t ended and the monster of African relegation continues,I must say largely aided by our selfish leaders.Our selfish leaders that only see climate conferences as an opportunity to travel and get travel allowance at the expense of a suffering population.
The recent pictures of Greta Thunberg, arrested by the German authorities is another revelation of the Hitherto known hypocrisy that is breathtaking.
The same Greta thunberg, made a champion by the west is now arrested as a common criminal, because Germany, the bastion of climate civility, now wants to fire its coal plant due to the Ukrainian war.
If we must come to equity we must come to equity with clean hands.If it is easy for Germany to use coal,why can’t Africa tap its own resources.The sad reality is that the biggest emitters are all developed countries so when will Africa be given the chance to develop at its own pace.
It must be said the problem of Africa is basic survival and the current way it can do that is through its resources underground already plundered by the west.
It is time for African leaders to look beyond the largesse and benefits and make a good case for Africa to exploit its own resources for its development rather than cower to western propaganda that doesn’t benefit Africa.
