It’s Christmas Day in Lagos.I must confess there is felicity in the air and it seems Nigerians in Lagos have come to accept that fuel scarcity is real and they will live with it.
As I drove through town yesterday the sight of young men selling fuel in Jerry Cans was a sore one .It was a sorry sight for a nation rich in hydrocarbons but cannot process its oil.
It’s been a ping-pong situation for over a month in Lagos as the scarcity started, At a point the DSS gave an ultimatum but that didn’t produce any result, even the NNPC is not providing any solutions.
As we celebrate let us remember the hardship the fuel scarcity has caused us because Nigerians have developed a sort of Amnesia which I don’t think it’s bad because we are able to endure, but for how long will this continue?.
Asides from the petrol palava, It has been a good Christmas for some with all the parties, but the cost of food has made Christmas terrible for some.
Inflation has become the Ebenezer Scrooge but as we enter 2023 we can only pray it gets better.Merry Christmas all.
