A factional speaker, Olubunmi Adelugba, has emerged in the Ekiti State House of Assembly.
This comes barely six days after Gboyega Aribisogan emerged as Speaker of the Assembly, having polled 15 votes as against Adelugba’s 10 votes.
Aribisogan was however impeached on Thursday Morning and suspended indefinitely
At a plenary presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Hakeem Jamiu, it was gathered that some lawmakers effected Aribisogan’s impeachment for blocking the passage of the 2022 Supplementary Appropriation Bill.
Six other lawmakers in the Assembly were also slammed with suspension for compromising the process of the election that produced Aribisogan as Speaker on November 15.
The new factional Speaker, after adjourning plenary led her colleagues to the State Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress to officially inform party leaders of the change of leadership in the Assembly.
