The leadership of the Labour Party has dismissed reports that it was against the 1,234 presidential campaign Council unveiled on Wednesday.
Doyin Okupe who was appointed Director General of the Campaign announced key positions in the campaign Council at an event that was not attended by either Presidential Candidate of the LP, Peter Obi or his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed.
When contacted earlier by pressmen, National Publicity Secretary of LP, Hon. Arabambi Abayomi responded saying “We are not involved in Dr Okupe mischievous political shenanigans.”
But in statement signed by the National Chairman of LP, Barr Julius Abure, he asked the public to “disregard the statement as it does not emanate from the leadership of the party.
The statement partly read,” It is important to let our esteemed friends of the media to know that the leadership of the party fully endorsed the media outing of Peter Obi campaign council. The party was fully consulted and was fully represented by a good number of our National Working Committee led by the National Secretary.
“There is therefore no rift between the party and the presidential campaign council as it’s being speculated in some quarters. Kindly disregard such fake stories as it is an imagination of our political traducers,” he added.
