Two children who were kidnapped after gunmen murdered their father, Alfa Tunde Aribidesi, at their home in Gaa Osibi, Ilorin West Local Government Area, Kwara State, have fled.
Tunde, a businessman from Ojatuntun, Baboko, Ilorin, was murdered on September 29, 2022.
His children, Jamiu (12) and Sambo (15), were abducted after the kidnappers demanded N10 million in exchange for their release.
PUNCH The two toddlers, however, escaped on Sunday night as their abductors dozed off in the wilderness, according to Metro.
“The kidnappers used our late father’s phone to call our relatives for N10m ransom,” Sambo said. “However, we escaped from the bush when they (kidnappers) were asleep and arrived at our home early in the morning.”
The news was verified by a medical doctor (name withheld), who claimed the two children were in his facility.
While negotiations with the kidnappers were underway, a friend of the dead, Alfa Lawal Taoheed, had asked for prayers for the safe return of the children on Facebook.
“The family arranged N7m via a representative,” he wrote. Unfortunately, the kidnappers were unable to inform the guy where to meet them or drop the money, forcing him to return with it.”
