The Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo SAN has demanded the arrest and prosecution of the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed for comments he described as incendiary and capable of causing rebellion.
Keyamo who is the Chief Spokesperson of the All-Progressives Congress APC Presidential Campaign Council, argued that since the declaration of the Presidential election results, obi and Ahmed have been making inciteful comments about the outcome of the polls.
“Since the declaration of the presidential election results, they have been hopping from one media house to the other, making incendiary comments and claims about the declaration of the president-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),” the petition by Mr Keyamo partly read.
While the minister admits that the statements made are within the ambience of their fundamental rights, he argued that they crossed the line as such statements were capable of causing mayhem and anarchy.
He subsequently asked the Department of State Services to summon or if possible arrest the duo and if necessary, charge both individuals to court for their conduct for alleged incitement and treasonable felony.
