Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar says Saturday’s election was not free or fair.

He made the remarks at an ongoing Press Briefing in Abuja, adding that the electoral process on display over the weekend was a rape on democracy and must be challenged.

Abubakar also accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of collusion, noting that the commission appeared desperate to hurriedly conclude the electoral process, despite numerous complaints of manipulation and disenfranchisement by some voters.

“The manipulation and fraud that attended this election were unprecedented in the history of our nation. It was indeed a rape of democracy. The processes and outcome of the election was grossly flawed and must be challenged by all of us.”

He expressed hope that the judiciary would review the election and restore the credibility of the process.

“It’s my hope the judiciary will redeem itself this time around and rise to society’s expectation as the last hope of our people. In the end, who wins is not as important as the credibility of our elections and electoral processes.”

Earlier, Abubakar’s counterpart in the Labour Party, Peter Obi claimed victory in the election and vowed to challenge the outcome of the polls in court.
