Nigeria defeated Rwanda 2-0 in their CAF World Cup qualification Group C match on Friday, with Victor Osimhen scoring both goals.

Osimhen netted in the 11th minute after connecting with Ademola Lookman’s cross, then added a second in first-half stoppage time (45+3′).

The contest turned physical after the break, with Rwanda’s D. Bizimana cautioned in the 46th minute and Nigeria’s Wilfred Ndidi booked three minutes later.

Despite controlling 45% of possession, Rwanda managed just two shots on target against Nigeria’s solid defence.

The Super Eagles recorded three shots on target and eight corners, showing greater attacking intent throughout.

The win moves Nigeria to fourth place in Group C with six points from five matches, keeping their qualification hopes intact.

South Africa leads the group with 10 points, followed by Benin (8) and Rwanda (7).
