President Bola Tinubu has sanctioned the allocation of more than N700 billion for tertiary institutions benefiting from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) in the 2025 financial year.
The Executive Secretary of TETFund, Sonny Echono, announced this development during the 2025 Strategic Planning Meeting with heads of tertiary institutions in Abuja yesterday .
Echono explained the structure of the 2025 disbursement, stating: “The total direct disbursement accounts for 91.08 per cent, comprising 48.90 per cent allocated as annual direct disbursement and 42.18 per cent as special direct disbursement.
Additionally, 8.72 per cent is earmarked for designated projects, while stabilisation funds constitute 0.20 per cent.”
He further outlined the specific allocations, revealing that each university would receive N2.8 billion, polytechnics N1.9 billion, and colleges of education N2.1 billion under the annual direct disbursement.
