Ekiti State-born aviation expert and Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Otunba Peter Obafemi, has praised former President Olusegun Obasanjo, describing him as a “towering figure in Nigeria’s history” on the occasion of his 88th birthday.
In exclusive remarks, Otunba Obafemi stated, “President Obasanjo stands as a leader who has served Nigeria with exceptional dedication both as a military head of state and as a civilian president.”
Highlighting the former president’s transformative leadership, Obafemi specifically commended Obasanjo’s 2001 establishment of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO), calling it “more than just an administrative act – a transformative vision that encouraged Nigerians abroad to reconnect with their homeland.”
“His undying loyalty to Nigeria’s progress demonstrates the profound difference visionary leadership can make,” Obafemi added.
The PDP Chieftain revealed that Obasanjo’s initiatives personally motivated his own return to Nigeria, stating he was inspired to “invest in businesses that create jobs and stimulate economic growth across the country.”
Concluding his tribute, Obafemi prayed that the former President “ continue to enjoy sound health and peace, and witness the greatness of Nigeria he has tirelessly worked to build.”
