The Lagos State Government has directed all unregistered private schools to immediately register with the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) or face sanctions.
In a statement on Monday, Remi Abdul, OEQA Coordinating Director, disclosed that the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Alli-Balogun, stressed the importance of compliance to ensure quality education standards across the state.
“All unregistered private schools must submit their applications starting January 13, 2025, to avoid penalties,” the statement read.
The statement noted that registered schools will gain state recognition, access to technical and financial support, and updates on new policies and initiatives from Lagos and Federal Governments.
The government stressed that the growing number of private schools requires effective monitoring to uphold education quality, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring all learners receive a standard education. Institutions failing to comply will face strict action.
