The Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, in Oyo State has appealed to the government to give more incentives to health workers and doctors to reduce the excessive migration.
Chairman of the Union in the state, Happy Adedapo, made the appeal stating that the Japa syndrome is one of the major challenges of health workers in 2024 and could be reduced to the barest minimum if the doctors were made comfortable.
He also called for the implementation of the adjusted consolidated medical salary scale that FG initiated to be implemented for doctors in Oyo State as well.
“We appeal to Governor Makinde to pay the doctors working in the state the medical residency training fund.
“The adjusted consolidated medical salary scale that FG implemented should also be implemented for doctors in Oyo State as well.
“State workers should also enjoy the wage award. It’s not too much for the government to give more incentives to the doctors to encourage them.
Adedapo urged health workers and relevant stakeholders to work in synergy to improve healthcare delivery in Oyo State and Nigeria at large in 2025.
