The Kwara state government has demoted a teacher at Government Day Junior Secondary School, Kulende, Ilorin, Hamzat Fatimoh Nike who was accused of assaulting and stripping a female youth corps member posted to the school.
A joint statement by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, and Chairman of the Teaching Service Commission, TESCOM, Bello Abubakar revealed that an investigative panel found the teacher guilty of misconduct, including fighting on duty, insubordination, use of foul language, and disrespecting the NYSC uniform.
Hamzat who was demoted by two grade levels, will be transferred from her current school and required to undergo counselling sessions.
The government also urged teachers to adhere to public service ethics and assured them of continued training on teaching principles and professional conduct.
