The Minister for Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, has announced that the Federal Government has allocated N112 billion through the National Plan for Financing Safe Schools as part of efforts to safeguard learning environments over the next three years.
The minister also stated that the government has made significant progress in advancing children’s rights through the adoption and implementation of several initiatives.
This was disclosed in a statement released on Wednesday to mark Universal Children’s Day, themed “Advancing Children’s Rights for a Sustainable Future”.
“Through the National Plan for Financing Safe Schools, over N112 billion has been allocated to safeguard learning environments over the next three years, ensuring that schools remain safe and inclusive spaces for all children,” she said.
Highlighting the government’s efforts to protect children’s rights, Suleiman-Ibrahim revealed that all 36 states of the Federation had adopted the Child Rights Act. She also noted that the implementation of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act has strengthened policies to protect children from all forms of violence and abuse.
