Pep Guardiola has admitted that Manchester City’s Premier League dominance may be slipping after a 2-1 loss to Brighton, marking his fourth consecutive defeat—a first in his managerial career.
With Liverpool now five points clear at the top, Guardiola acknowledged that this could be the year City cede their title.
“Maybe after seven years of winning six Premier Leagues, another team deserves it,” Guardiola said.
City took the lead through Erling Haaland, but Brighton’s Joao Pedro equalised, and Matt O’Riley’s debut goal clinched the win.
Despite setbacks, Guardiola remained determined.
“There’s always a first time in life. I won’t step back. When my players return, I have no doubt we’ll be back at our best,” he added.
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp called City’s second-half display “one of the worst halves” he’s seen from a Guardiola team, adding to concerns over City’s form.
