The government of Equatorial Guinea has dismissed the embattled Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency, ANIF, Baltasar Engonga, following the discovery of sex tapes that were leaked online.
It was gathered that the dismissal was ordered by President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo after the release of videos featuring Engonga engaging in intimate encounters with high-profile women.
It wrote, ”According to Real Equatorial Guinea, the dismissal of Mr. Engonga, the son of Baltasar Engonga Edjo (current president of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa, CEMAC), was formalized in Decree No. 118/2024, dated November 4.
The decree cited Mr. Engonga’s alleged misconduct in office and his family-related and social behavior as incompatible with public office.”
The discovery of the footage has sparked widespread controversy.
Recall Engonga was initially suspended over corruption scandals before the discovery and leak of nearly 400 tapes showing his intimate moments with VIP women, including his cousins.
