The Rivers State Judicial Commission of Inquiry investigating post-council election violence has summoned associates of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike to testify on recent attacks on local government secretariats.
In a statement today, Chairman of the Commission, Justice Ibiwengi Minakiri listed those called to appear, including former Ikwerre LG Chairman, Samuel Nwanosike and Eleme and Ahoada East counterparts Obarilomate Ollor and Hope Ikiriko, all of whom served under Wike’s administration as governor of Rivers between 2015 until 2023.
Aforji Igwe, representing Eleme in the State House, was also summoned, alongside 105 other persons.
Recall Governor Siminalayi Fubara set up the inquiry to examine incidents of arson, killings, and destruction linked to alleged political thugs targeting secretariats in Ikwerre, Eleme, and Emuoha.
The statement said hearings are scheduled from October 30 through November 11 for witnesses from Ikwerre, Eleme, Emuoha LGA, Ohio/Akpor and Khan LGA.
