The Federal Government has announced plans to launch a Command-and-Control Centre to address irregular migration into Nigeria.
The Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo hinted at this at an induction for officers in Abuja, stressing Nigeria’s unique migration challenges due to its geographical positioning in the Sahel and Gulf of Guinea.
He said the upcoming centre will bolster pre-profiling at land, marine, and airport borders while the centre will implement round-the-clock power for uninterrupted operations and deploy e-gates at international airports.
Earlier, Immigration Comptroller General, Kemi Nandap, announced that 123 officers will receive specialised training to operate the new system, which includes advanced data analysis and screening methods.
