U.S president Joe Biden is expected to sponsor resumption of ceasefire talks in Gaza, as he visits Germany, in what appears to be his last stop at Berlin before the end of his tenure.
Before leaving Washington, Biden said Hamas leader, Yahya Sinwar, who Israel holds responsible for orchestrating the October 7 terror attacks, had been an obstacle to a cease-fire and hostage deal in Gaza, and called his death a good day.
Speaking at Bellevue Palace this morning, Biden called on the west to sustain its fight against anti-democratic entities, seeking to snatch the independence of sovereign nations, insisting that countries like Ukraine must be defended.
Meanwhile, President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has conferred the highest merit award on Joe Biden for his role in maintaining world peace and defending democracy, describing him as a man who stood firm for freedom.
