The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the alleged money laundering trial of former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello till October 30, 2024 after Bello filed an appeal against the arrest warrant issued against him by the trial court.
Bello is currently facing a 19-count charge, with allegations of laundering N80.2 billion.
When the money laundering matter came up for hearing, the Defence Counsel, A.M. Adoyi, drew the court’s attention to Bello’s appeal contesting the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) declaration of him as a wanted person.
Reacting to the decision, Counsel for the EFCC, Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, however, told the court that Bello’s lawyers were turning the court into a place for entertainment and by so doing undermining the judiciary’s integrity.
