President Bola Tinubu has requested the Senate to screen and confirm Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
The letter, read by President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio, sought speedy consideration and confirmation of Kekere-Ekun whose appointment is based on the National Judicial Commission’s recommendation.
The Red Chamber has since referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for deliberation on the next legislative day on Wednesday.
Justice Kekere-Ekun, was sworn in as the acting CJN on August 23, 2024 as the second female to hold this position and succeeded Justice Olukayode Ariwoola who bowed out of service last month.
