Lagos State is transitioning to greener and more efficient urban transport systems to enhance climate resilience.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, announced this at the inaugural Lagos Metropolitan Transport Authority (LAMATA) National Conference on Sustainable Urban Mobility, held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island.
Represented by Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, he noted the critical role of urban mobility in Lagos and explained how the state Government through LAMATA and the Lagos State Waterways Authority is implementing a sustainable multimodal public transport system that integrates cleaner-energy intra-city buses, bus rapid transit, light rail transit, inland waterways transit, and non-motorized transport options.
He said Lagos is also actively implementing programmes and policies aimed at reducing reliance on fossil fuels and combating harmful effects of greenhouse gas emissions.
