The Nigerian Army has dismissed reports that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, has resigned.
An online report had claimed that Lagbaja submitted his resignation letter to President Bola Tinubu, 24 hours after escaping an assassination attempt on his life.
Responding to inquiries, Director of Army Public Relations, Maj Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, described the report as fake news.
Lagbaja’s was appointed as the 23rd Chief of Army Staff on June 19, 2023, succeeding Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya.
