The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended accreditation and voting beyond 2.00pm in areas where polling began late due to delayed arrival of materials.
In a statement by National Commissioner Mohammed Haruna, INEC said that the extension is in line with the election guidelines to ensure no voter is disenfranchised.
“Our monitoring shows early commencement of polls in many areas, but some locations started late,” the statement reads.
INEC reiterated that voting would continue until all eligible voters who arrived by 2:30 pm have cast their ballots.
The commission also instructed its Edo office to ensure adequate power supply where necessary to support the voting process.
