Social media whistleblower Isaac Bristol, also known as Pidom, has pleaded not guilty to a nine-count charge bordering on money laundering, cybercrime, unlawful possession, and release of classified official secrets.
He made his plea when the Nigerian Police Force arraigned him before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court Abuja today.
In a charge marked FHC/ABJ/CR/456/2024, PIDOM was accused of mobilising and soliciting support to unduly compel the government to act or abstain from certain acts through the #EndBadGovernance protest, false money-laundering allegations against President Bola Tinubu and unlawfully obtaining, retaining and disseminating classified secret documents in contravention of the official Secret Act 1962.
Following his plea, Justice Nwite adjourned the case to 23rd September to determine his bail request but remanded him at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the hearing.
This is the first time Pidom has been arrested, following an initial report by investigative journalist David Hundeyin that the anonymous whistleblower had been arrested.
