Manchester United have completed the signing of Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee that could rise to £50.8 million. The 23-year-old Uruguayan midfielder has penned a five-year contract with an option for an additional year.
Ugarte expressed his excitement, saying, “It’s incredible to join a club of this magnitude. The project is extremely exciting, and I’m determined to succeed.”
United’s sporting director Dan Ashworth praised Ugarte’s ball-winning abilities, noting he’s “among the very best in the world.”
This transfer takes United’s summer spending past £200 million. Ugarte, known for his defensive prowess, has averaged the second-highest number of tackles per 90 minutes in Europe’s major leagues since 2022-23.
