The meeting between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), originally scheduled for today, has been postponed to Wednesday.
ASUU President Emmanuel Osodeke confirmed that the meeting which was announced by the Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman last Friday was postponed but gave no official reason.
The meeting is crucial as university lecturers, following a national executive council meeting at the University of Ibadan on August 19, 2024, threatened to go on a nationwide strike if issues around their welfare, increasing funding for universities, and halting the proliferation of universities across the country are not urgently addressed.
