The Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has labeled Senator Dino Melaye as a liability to the party.
Elders of the PDP in the state, led by Ibrahim Dansofo, urged the local executive committee in Ijumu to begin suspension proceedings against Melaye.
They believe this action is necessary to restore the party’s integrity and focus on strong leadership.
This follows Melaye’s recent criticism of the acting National Chairman of the PDP, Iliya Damagum, along with other party leaders, accusing them of destroying the party.
In response, the PDP elders condemned his remarks, arguing that Melaye’s political influence has diminished to the point where he struggles to secure even a local councillor position.
They suggested that Melaye’s continued association with the PDP serves only his personal interests.
The elders called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to distance themselves from Melaye, whom they described as a “big-time liability” and a “burden” to the party.
