The Nigeria Police Force has announced the successful rescue of 20 medical students and other individuals who were kidnapped in Benue State last week while en route to Enugu.
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, emphatically stated that no ransom was paid for their release.
Adejobi asserted that the rescue was achieved through tactical operations by the rescue team. The hostages were freed on Friday, August 23, 2024, from the Ntunkon forest in Benue State.
The police spokesperson commended the efforts of security agencies, local communities, and the Office of the National Security Adviser for their commitment and resilience in securing the release of the captives.
The Force has promised to provide more details about the rescue operation soon.
