Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested a woman, Hauwa Sani, for attempting to smuggle 124 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition concealed in a gallon of palm oil.
The suspect found in the company of a two-year-old child was arrested on Friday, according to a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel on Saturday.
The suspect, a resident of Doro village in Katsina State, was also found with a sum of ₦78,500 and a mobile phone.
According to the statement, Hauwa Sani had reportedly received the ammunition in Rafin Sanyi village, Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, and was attempting to transport it to Katsina State when she was apprehended by police operatives from the Keffi Division.
The Commissioner of Police, Shehu Nadada, has ordered the transfer of the suspect and the recovered items to the Force Intelligence Department at Force Headquarters in Abuja for further investigation.
